The Loneliness Nobody Notices

2030 words

This was one of my first short stories, written during a long period between novels. It’s about near strangers, could-have-beens, changing seasons, and the ways in which paths are crossed. Its title is taken from the Dave Matthews Band song, #41. The original title was the fairly innocuous There She Was, but after I ditched The Loneliness Nobody Notices as the title for a novel I’d been working on, I decided it fit much better for this particular piece.
